Allá por 1995 el conjunto de synth pop Pet Shop Boys había lanzado un disco de b-sides llamado Alternative; dieciséis años más tarde, los ingleses Neil Tennant y Chris Lowe acumularon un nuevo puñado de canciones para dar vida al álbum doble Format (2012).

En este sentido, el compilado -que será editado por Parlaphone el 6 de febrero entrante- incluirá lados b desde 1996 hasta 2009, además de algunos comentarios del periodista de música Jon Savage.

Actualmente Pet Shop Boys se encuentra trabajando en su próximo disco. En un reciente comunicado a través de su web oficial, Tennat afirmó que en lo que va del año ya llevan escritos dieciséis nuevos temas y que empezarán a grabarlo este mes para lanzarlo en 2012.
